Se ha abierto una pequeña tregua para mis oidos… Arab Strap iban camino de convertirse en una verdadera obsesión (realmente, creo que lo han logrado)… pero bueno, siempre está bien cambiar de tercio de vez en cuando… aunque admito que cada vez me cuesta más encontrar cosas (cosas = discos) que me motiven y me inciten a sucesivas y continuas escuchas…

El último caso acontecido hasta la fecha es el de Belle and Sebastian y su nuevo trabajo, The life pursuit:

He de reconocer que las dos primeras escuchas me dejaron algo frío… y, a raíz de ver el video recientemente de esa maravilla llamada Funny little frog, decidí retomarlo… a veces, conviene darse un tiempo… y este ha sido un buen ejemplo… el disco me parece deslumbrante, genial… muchos opinan que han perdido su toque, su pegada, que se repiten eternamente en un bucle, que en la actualidad resultan impersonales… pero nada más lejo de la realidad… tanto su trabajo anterior, Dear Catastrophe Waitress, como este The Life Pursuit (que verá la luz el próximo 6 de febrero en nuestro país de la mano de Sinnamon Records), a pesar de las innumerables críticas (unas ya confirmadas; otras por venir) me parecen discos absolutamente imprescindibles, obras mayores, al igual que su discografía al completo…

Personalmente, soy de la opinión de que la categoría y la grandeza de un grupo, se miden por sus canciones… y en lo que respecta a canciones, se pueden contar con los dedos de una mano los temas de los escoceses que no son de mi agrado… para muestra, un botón, Push Barman To Open Old Wounds, doble recopilatorio de caras-b de la banda… material supuestamente de “deshecho”, cuya calidad no desmerece en absoluto al resto de sus publicaciones oficiales…
